Jazz Dance is New Orleans! We teach movement rooted in a technique and importantly, in the rhythms of African and innovative movement. The warm-up develops strength, flexibility, coordination, and dance techniques specific to jazz dance. The class offers dynamic choreography set to jazz and popular music and encourages a perspective of individual expression and development of personal style. Classes are Mondays and Thursday, 7 PM at Sanchez Multi-Service Center, 1616 Caffin Avenue in the Lower 9th Ward!

The mission of and primary activities of Tekrema Center for Culture and Art are the maintenance, development and perseverance of African and African Diaspora art and culture through the performing and visual arts, humanities and educational programming related to issues which particularly affect the African-American community. The principal activities of Tekrema are the creation, acquisition, preservation, and research of arts; the creation of knowledge through training and research; and the dissemination of these resources through exhibitions, publications, public lectures, presentations, and education programs.
